Disorganized at the Start
Step 1: The Sorting Process:
As you clear out the Garage, each item picked up either gets sorted into a category (we used the backyard as a staging area), donated, returned, or recycled/tossed
Step 2: The Space Plan -
When the garage was as empty as possible, The Organizing Team and the homeowners discussed in detail what the garage would be used for.
Careful attention was paid to what supplies, tools and items the homeowners needed for each task they described.
When all activities and storage needs were considered, a general plan for the space was sketched out.
Step 3: Prepare the Area - The Homeowners paid to have an epoxy floor put down down, before anything went back in. The cabinets were also painted white.
Step 4: Purchase Supplies Needed - A new bookcase and new shelf hooks were purchased.
The new bookcase holds automotive supplies, next to the Garage Door for easy access.
Sometimes items did not work out where they were originally planned to be, but a spot was found for everything. Only three large bags of trash went out, and a large band saw was taken into the homeowner's work.
